This report is largely about climbing, but on skis, not on crampons or sticky rubber. For a number of years now John Peterson and I have gone to the interior ranges of BC for a week of guided back country skiing. (I do not trust my avalanche judgment skills to venture into the mid winter snow pack on my own.) We fly in by helicopter on Sat. morning, skin and ski the rest or the week, and fly out the following Sat.
This Feb. we were at the Selkirk Lodge, with spring-like conditions in Feb. and spent our time above tree line. By contrast, in 2014 we were at the Battle Abbey and had 6 days of snow storms and spent most of our time in the trees.
Good pictures can be found on my DropBox. I recommend the download option and then viewing with PowerPoint in slide show mode.

There is one very sad and distressing note to add: Robson Gmoser was killed in an avalanche on March 10th. He was the son of Hans Gmoser (who was the founder of heli-skiing and Canadian Mountain Holidays). Robson was head guide for my trips in 2012 and 2014. He was an extraordinarily great fellow. He was about 45 and leaves a wife and a 3 year old son. One of many news links here: http://www.rmoutlook.com/article/201503 ... 9992/0/rmo
